Amalfi Places of Worship & Religious Sites
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Places of Worship & Religious Sites in Amalfi, SA, Campania.
Amalfi's cathedral was constructed in the 11th century, and has been modified over the centuries since. It is named for St. Andrew (Sant'Andrea), whose remains are buried in the cathedral's crypt. The church sits at the top of a steep set of stairs, and retains its 800-year-old bronze doors. To the Duomo's left are the intriguing Cloisters of Paradise, where the crypt can be reached amongst sarcophagi containing the remains of other Amalfi elite.
